Dearest Jaxon

You're 8!  It's a magical age and there is nothing lacking of magic to your turning 8! You are a Cub Scout and Wednesday will be your first pack meeting.  You will be baptized in 2 weeks.  April 13.   Today you had your interview with the Bishop for your baptism.  You were so nervous so I gave you some practice questions.  You did a great job and Bishop Patterson was so impressed.  Another thing about turning 8 is it's PARTY time!  We had a cowboy themed Nerf War party. All of your friends dressed up as cowboys and brought their nerf guns and after games and food and a pinata, you went played Nerf war.  When it was time to hit the pinata, you were the first and only one to hit it!  I packed it FULL and it was pretty weak.  It was so exciting when you nailed it after a couple of hits and the candy came flying out.  You told me it was the best best birthday ever.  Phew!   Those are the words I wanted to hear!  When we got home from your party, you opened all your presents.  Your favorites being the remote control cars and remote control helicopter.  You got a movie from Aunt Suzanne and we got pillows and blankets and watched the movie together.  Most of us went to bed after but we decided to not give you a bed time and you stayed up ALL night playing with your toys!  I think you slept for about an hour or so!  Definitely an awesome birthday!
Jaxon, you are growing up so much and learning so many lessons that will prepare you to be a great missionary.  You are so kind to those around you and you have that smile that nobody can say no to.  A  lot of the girls at school chase you because you are the nice boy.  And it flaters you but you are so humble about it and play along with them.  You hvae always been very sensitive to the worldly things around you and make a conscience choice to not participate in those things.  About a month ago you were concerned at school because at gym your teacher was having you do Zumba and you didn't have a good feelong about it because the girls were not modest.  We talked to the gym teacher and the principle and told them that you were not comfortable with their lack of clothing and that we didn't think the little children should have to see that at school.  They both agreed and said no more Zumba with the girls, but instead she plays the Zumba with the men and they have shirts on!  ALL because YOU stood for the right!  We were so proud of you!  You handled that so well!  You make those kinds of choices often and you are very well at discerning the spirit of Christ in your life.  And when you receive the Holy Ghost in April, then you will have that contant companionship.  You are going to be an even beter example! 
I am so proud of the boy you are becoming.  You are a light in our family!  You are full of great qualities and talents and I have loved watching those sprout in your life as you are getting older.  I love you my sweet son.  Thank you for your great example!
