Easter Tradition

Every Easter I buy a book that talks about the true meaning of Easter. This year I bought, "Easter Walk--A treasure hunt for the real meaning of Easter" by Deborah Pace Rowley. Awesome book. These are pictures of our children doing their Easter Walk. You don't really have to buy the book to have the concept. Here are the scriptures:

Mark 15:17--look for something thorny and talk to the kids about what the thorns represent.

John 19:17-18--the children find something made of wood to represent the wood cross Jesus carried and was crucified on.
Luke 23:46-find something to represent the Savior's death. Our children found dead leaves.
3 Nephi 8:23-find something that represents darkness. Our children found black mud to represent darkness and I didn't take a picture. Oops.

Mark 15:46-Something hard and round to represent the stone rolled in front of the tomb.
Matthew 28:5-6-Find something alive to represent that Jesus Christ was resurrected and lives again. Our children found flowers that were alive and throughout the rest of our walk we saw bugs and other fun things that were alive.
This was such a neat experience with the kids and they really enjoyed it too. It was something at their level to help them understand the meaning of Easter and we will go on an Easter Walk every Easter.
PS the other kids in our pictures were my cousins kids. We spent the day with them at their house and had a fabulous time.
